Plants vs. Zombies: Replanted - Latest Patch Notes Revealed for Switch and Switch 2
PopCap has rolled out a significant update, Patch 1.2, for their recently launched title, 'Plants vs. Zombies: Replanted', available on both the Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 platforms. This patch introduces a comprehensive array of enhancements and bug fixes across various aspects of the game, including visual fidelity, adversarial mode functionality, core gameplay mechanics, and audio experiences. Players can anticipate a more refined and stable gaming environment as these updates are progressively implemented on both consoles.
The newly released Patch 1.2 tackles a wide range of issues that players might have encountered since the game's initial launch. Graphically, several adjustments have been made to character models and visual effects. For instance, the Twin Sunflowers now feature appropriately sized faces, Dr. Zomboss's eyes display the correct colors based on his attacks, and the Split Pea projectile now fires with both eyes open. Additionally, cosmetic details for various zombies, such as the BrownCoat Zombie's retro skin and the Pole Vaulter Zombie's head drop animation, have been corrected to ensure consistency and visual accuracy. The game's user interface also sees improvements, with Dr. Zomboss now displaying a health bar for clearer combat feedback, and roof cleaners no longer appearing prematurely at the start of roof levels.
Beyond visual refinements, the update also brings notable changes to the 'Vs Mode'. Previously unavailable zombie types like Jack in the Box, Catapult, and Newspaper zombies have been integrated into combat scenarios, diversifying the strategic possibilities. Conversely, certain defensive elements such as the Flower Pot and Planter are no longer selectable in this mode, streamlining the competitive experience. Furthermore, issues where Sun and Brains currency obstructed plant placement have been resolved, allowing for more fluid and precise deployment of units.
Gameplay mechanics have received attention as well, aiming to enhance player interaction and remove minor frustrations. Players can now more easily cancel seed placement by interacting directly with the seed selector, rather than needing to click away first. The Vasebreaker mini-game will no longer generate superfluous lawnmowers, ensuring a cleaner experience. Positioning glitches for Ice Traps affecting Bungie Zombie and Gargantuar have been rectified, and a co-operative mode bug that allowed both players to simultaneously select the same seed packet has been addressed, preventing potential conflicts.
Audio fidelity and integration have also been a focus of Patch 1.2. The 'Turbo Speed' setting will no longer inadvertently accelerate the game's original soundtrack, maintaining the intended musical pacing. The in-game shop now consistently plays the correct background music, regardless of the player's entry point, contributing to a more immersive retail experience. Furthermore, pausing the game now correctly suspends all audio playback, and invalid placement warnings in 'Vs Mode' trigger the appropriate sound effects. The destructive sounds of Doomshroom and Jalapeno when clearing tombstones have also been corrected, aligning with their powerful effects.
In addition to these specific fixes, the patch includes miscellaneous improvements such as rectifying assets in 'High Contrast Mode' and resolving various UI issues stemming from missing or misaligned elements. Several user experience bugs linked to resolution and control scheme adjustments have also been squashed, promising a smoother and more adaptable interface. PopCap has already announced that work is underway on Patch 1.2.1, with further details expected to be revealed in the coming weeks, signaling their ongoing commitment to refining 'Plants vs. Zombies: Replanted'.
