Rematch Soccer Game Receives Major Updates and Upcoming Crossplay Feature
Sloclap, the developer behind the multiplayer football title, Rematch, has announced that cross-platform play is on its way, addressing a key feature absent since its June debut. The absence of crossplay was initially attributed to unforeseen technical challenges. However, the studio has now confirmed that this highly anticipated functionality will be integrated in an upcoming patch. While the current beta patch, released on Steam, does not yet include crossplay, it focuses on resolving more immediate and pressing concerns, particularly a number of significant netcode-related problems that have been impacting gameplay.
\nThis latest update prioritizes crucial fixes, notably resolving issues where tackles would not register and instances of goalkeeper rollbacks leading to unwarranted goals. These network inconsistencies have been a source of growing dissatisfaction among players, reflected in recent mixed reviews on Steam, even though the game's overall rating remains largely positive. The developer acknowledges that these desynchronization issues are a more critical impediment to player enjoyment than the lack of crossplay, emphasizing that a stable and reliable gameplay experience is paramount. Players can access this beta version through their Steam library, with the understanding that progress made in the beta build will not transfer to the main game, and certain features like 4v4 Quick Match, Ranked mode, and the in-game Store will be unavailable.
\nLooking ahead, Sloclap anticipates rolling out the current beta patch to the live version of Rematch on August 18. Furthermore, the studio confirmed that the subsequent update, referred to as Patch 3, is slated for release by the end of August. This forthcoming patch is expected to address any remaining known issues and, most importantly, introduce the long-awaited crossplay feature. The continuous efforts by the development team to enhance network stability and introduce cross-platform capabilities demonstrate their commitment to fostering a vibrant and fair competitive environment for all players. This ongoing dedication to refining the game and improving connectivity underscores a positive trajectory for the Rematch community.
