Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Unleashes Major Update 1.2.0 Across All Platforms

Sega has just deployed a significant update, Version 1.2.0, for its popular title, "Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds," as the year-end holiday season approaches. This comprehensive patch introduces a dedicated Nintendo Switch 2 Edition and an Upgrade Pack for existing Nintendo Switch players. Beyond platform-specific enhancements, the update brings a wealth of new content, including novel gadgets, a vastly increased World Match rating ceiling, expanded friend settings, and critical improvements to anti-cheat mechanisms. These additions and refinements aim to elevate the competitive racing experience and ensure a fairer, more engaging environment for all participants.

The latest update, Ver.1.2.0, which became available on December 3, 2025, is accessible across all major platforms, including PlayStation 5/4, Nintendo Switch/Switch 2, Xbox XS/One, Steam, and Epic. Players must install this patch to access online modes like World Match and any downloadable content. A key highlight is the introduction of the "Legend Competition," a new event mode scheduled to run from December 4 to December 21, 2025. Furthermore, the maximum World Match rating has been substantially increased from 9,999 to 99,999, providing more room for high-level competitive progression. Friend Match settings have also been enhanced to include multi-round options, eliminating the need to return to the lobby after each race.

Music enthusiasts will appreciate the addition of two collaboration tracks to the Jukebox: "No.1 - Crazy Raccoon" and "Hongami Precious Moment - Inugami Kroone, Tomoya Ohtani." Complementing these, twelve new collaboration decals have been integrated, allowing for greater vehicle customization. Six new gadgets have been introduced, categorized into Item Control Type (Lucky Pair, Double Down) and Support Type (Ring Mercy, Damage Mercy, Item Mercy, Strong Finish), all obtainable once a player's Gadget Plate reaches "Silver Plate" or higher. These new gadgets, along with adjustments to existing ones like Quick Recovery, Acceleration Machine Kit, Wisp Chance UP, and Invincible Start, are designed to create a more balanced gameplay experience, especially for those in mid-tier positions who previously found it challenging to stage a comeback.

Several gadgets previously available as Festival rewards can now be acquired using Donpa Tickets from the gadget customization screen, provided the player's gadget plate is "Master Plate" or higher. These include the Boost, Power, Handling Character Kits, Comeback Kit, and Sea Dog Kit. The update also features various other adjustments, such as altered appearances for Silver and Blaze's AI skins and "Team Dimension" rivals to prevent confusion with invincibility states. Handling after collisions in water areas and directional input detection for item usage have been improved. Communication during races has been optimized to prioritize sync information crucial for progression, such as Ultimate Charge activation.

A significant focus of this update is on strengthening anti-cheat measures. Sega has implemented robust systems to counteract unfair advantages in World Match and Time Trial modes on PC and other online platforms. The developers emphasize their commitment to maintaining a fair and secure online environment, and they will continue to monitor cheating activities, prepared to introduce additional anti-cheat measures if necessary. The patch also addresses numerous bug fixes, ranging from Festival announcements displaying incorrect information to various in-game glitches affecting item usage, course interactions, and machine behavior. These fixes collectively aim to provide a smoother and more reliable gaming experience.

This extensive update reflects Sega's ongoing dedication to refining "Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds." By introducing new content, rebalancing gameplay mechanics, and reinforcing anti-cheat protocols, the developers are committed to fostering a vibrant and equitable racing community. Players can look forward to a more engaging, competitive, and fair environment as they dive into the latest version of the game.
